There are tons of things going down in the lives of the Bueschers right now that are very mutable, so when the proper time comes, the four of us will reveal…BUT! Until then, content yourself with this goodness:
Gorgeous ear wrap from kseaborne for $7
OMFG, a steampunk nerf gun. Kill me now- with that. oldjunkyardboutique, $39.99
Silk-Velvet dress…absolutely gorgy, if pricy. SteampunkCouture, $599
I don’t know why I hadn’t come up with the idea of making a leather bracer with a pocket for my debit card and money. I hate carrying purses :(. Well, ClockworkLeatherCo di for $69.99
MGDClothing makes a beautiful black twill shrug for $59.99, which I love.
Dearest Kiki, who we know is getting married in October, invited me to do some reception decorations last week at her Batchelorette Pad. We had fantastic take out for dinner and jammed out to Mumford and Sons while we transferred, cut, stenciled and painted.
Oh, yeah, and we got loopy with instagram, or maybe the paint fumes?
I’m inordinately pleased with the freehand branches I did. These are going to look sooooo great! I can’t wait to see them up at the wedding.
I will be going to Prague in 19 days (eep!) on the 11th of September until the 13th of October. I need to get our apartment ready for the Buescher Family and also get certified to teach in the Czech Republic. I am also getting certified to teach English as a Second Language, in case I should want to get some extra employment besides my three days a week at Charles University. My classes run M-F from 10am until 3pm, so I’ll be quite busy. On the weekends, though, is another story.
I got my Eurail pass today. ::squee::
On my three free weekends, I’m going to get the hell out of dodge and see a bit of the continent!!!
Weekend Trip 1: Budapest, Hungary
Might as well throw in a castle… Vajdahunyad Castle
The Arabic Baths are really the reason I’m going to Budapest. I frequented on in Grenada, Spain two years ago and I’m an addict.
Like its Roman predecessor a typical hammam consists of three basic, interconnected rooms: the sıcaklık (or hararet -caldarium), which is the hot room; the warm room (tepidarium), which is the intermediate room; and the soğukluk, which is the cool room (frigidarium).
The sıcaklık usually has a large dome decorated with small glass windows that create a half-light; it also contains a large marble stone called göbek taşı (tummy stone) at the center that the customers lie on, and niches with fountains in the corners. This room is for soaking up steam and getting scrub massages. The warm room is used for washing up with soap and water and the soğukluk is to relax, dress up, have a refreshing drink, sometimes tea, and, where available, a nap in a private cubicle after the massage.
Can you see why I would be addicted?
Second Weekend Trip: Vienna, Austria
Of course I have to visit Schonbrunn, the summer palace of Marie Antoinette’s childhood and Emperess Maria Teresa.
If I can’t catch a concert of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, I at least want to visit the Imperial Opera House.
Weekend Trip Three: Munich and Fussen
This trip, I have two extra days, as it is my last weekend in Europe. You know what that means, don’t you?
Then I’m taking the Pilgrimage an hour south to Fussen and…
Neuschwanstein and Mad King Ludwig II.
Wish me luck!!! There’s so much left to do still!
So, it has gotten around by now that the Buescher Family is moving to Prague.
Working for these people…
If you don’t understand, that’s all right. I’ll be working at Charles University (Founded 1348) in the department of Humanities. Pretty baller, right?
It gets better- my contract is only for six months, starting in January. Hopefully, there will be an option to extend, but we want to be back on US soil before Katherine starts Kindergarten in 2013.
Here’s a few pictures of where you’ll find the Bueschers:
I’m leaving in the second week of September to go to the Czechland to become certified to teach in the Czech Republic, find a place for the Bueschers to put down roots and secure visas, etc.,. I will be gone for four weeks (I know, it’s killing me to be away from the babies for so long!) and will return on the thirteenth of October, before Kiki’s wedding. Wouldn’t miss that for the world. Well, maybe if you really did give me the world, or even just a little island…
It’s a lovely four bedroom, two and a half bath turn-of-the-century house in Westwood. On the first floor, there is a living room, dining room, kitchen, butler’s pantry and sun room. Up the stairs are three large bedrooms, a small bedroom turned closet and a fully remodeled granite floored bathroom with a new clawfoot tub and glass shower enclosure with a rain water head. On the third floor, there is a small apartment with a living room, bedroom and full bathroom. In the basement, there is a large storage room, a large laundry room and a man cave. Outside is fully landscaped front and back with a new brick patio. There is also a detached two car garage.
Could be yours for only…$175,000
