really…?

April 13, 2011

I want you to take a look at this image:

Now, tell me this, do you see a beautiful mother and son having a beautiful afternoon crazy in love with each other, or do you see a little boy headed for a life of hedonism, demasculization and gender confusion?

Apparantly, this J. Crew ad is being bandied about by Fox News in an op-ed piece by Doctor of Psychology Keith Ablow (I do not call him Dr. because that implies that he adheres by the hypocratic oath, chiefly, do no harm).

Jenna and son, Beckett are lambasted in these highlights:

Yeah, well, it may be fun and games now, Jenna, but at least put some money aside for psychotherapy for the kid—and maybe a little for others who’ll be affected by your “innocent” pleasure.

Jenna Lyons and J. Crew seem to know exactly what they’re up to. That’s why the photograph of Jenna’s son so prominently displays his hot pink, neon toe nails. These folks are hostile to the gender distinctions that actually are part of the magnificent synergy that creates and sustains the human race. They respect their own creative notions a whole lot more than any creative Force in the universe.

If you have no problem with the J. Crew ad, how about one in which a little boy models a sundress? What could possibly be the problem with that?

Also, Erin Brown of the Media Research Center took it just a little bit further (how? you ask…)

With these snips:

J.CREW, a popular preppy woman’s clothing brand and favorite affordable line of first lady Michelle Obama, is targeting a new demographic – mothers of gender-confused young boys. At least, that’s the impression given by a new marketing piece that features blatant propaganda celebrating transgendered children.

Not only is Beckett likely to change his favorite color as early as tomorrow, Jenna’s indulgence (or encouragement) could make life hard for the boy in the future. J.CREW, known for its tasteful and modest clothing, apparently does not mind exploiting Beckett behind the façade of liberal, transgendered identity politics. One has to wonder what young boys in pink nail polish has to do with selling women’s clothing

Were you really so scrapped for dirt on the president that you had to make a beef with the first lady and where she likes to shop?

Fox News: go back to reporting about foxes and leave the news to CNN, got it?

Agreed. Fox news needs to get a life. Why not spend their energy and resources on something a bit more substantial.

John Stewart addresses this in his 4/13 show. Awesome. Check it out
