Ruffino Riserva Ducal Oro, Chianti Classico.

That’s all I feel like I have to say. This is what I think of when I think of Chianti. I’ve had the Riserva Ducale, the Riserva and now the Oro. The Riserva was good table wine. The Riserva Ducale was exceptional special-occasion wine. The Oro was an experience all unto itself.

Nearly completely lacking the sharp tannins that categorize the cons to the sangiovese family and keeping the full bodied chianti love. Notes of cranberry, coffee and cinnamon complement the bright acidity and berry end notes. This wine was infinitely drinkable (as I consumed half a bottle) and leaves the drinker only wanting more.

My bottle was a 92-pointer 2004 vintage. One would buy this for around $35
