Just a quick note to all of my loved ones.

I don’t care if you are red or blue. Just vote.

I’m up to a good fight. Are you?

I Come With Apologies.

All right, so sue me. I’ve been busy. We’ve been busy.

But busy isn’t such an excuse, eh, loyal readers?

Recap since the last post:

  • Hannah changed jobs (more to follow)
  • Paul returned to school
  • Kat learned to crawl, pull up, smile, point, giggle, buzz her lips, splash…(the list goes on and on)
  • The Bueschers are getting ready to welcome baby #2
  • Baby #2 turned out to be a little boy!
  • Patrick and Steph were married (yes!)
  • We moved to (can I really say this?) Eastgate

So, its been a pretty busy slice of life. But I wouldn’t have it any other way, because right now, we’re pretty blessed.

In other news, Paul and I are attempting to de-commercialize Christmas (starting in September!) By this we mean that all of your Christmas presents will at least have some element of handmade to them. I wish I could share some of the really awesome projects that we are working on, but alas, I can only reveal Kat’s presents. She doesn’t read yet (go figure). We are using our love, energy and resources to figure out creative ways to give you guys things you would actually want (no toilet paper roll snowmen crafts here!), which is proving to be most difficult! Good thing I sew and Paul’s handy in the kitchen and in a wood shop or we’d be effed!

As an example, here are some of Kat’s presents:
Wooden building blocks, stained with baby-friendly vegatable stains
A very softy patchwork blankie made out of remenants of velvet
Crocheted food (Know it sounds wierd. Go to this link)
A fairy wand made out of wood and fabric streamers
Wooden dishes for her ’food’, also stained with baby-friendly vegatable stains

There are things for your children too:
Mr. Ben gets a rocking horse and a sword and a cape!
Brenna gets fairy wings and blocks, too.

So, I need to get back to work (teehee!)

LOVE!

Unnamed Update

Ok! So here are some of the drafts I made between now and when wordpress crashed:

April 5, 2008
So, today Kat had her four month check up/respritory problems check up. The asthma-like sickness is sssllloooowwwllyy getting better, although we still have to give her the breathing treatment every four hours.

But, the big news of the day is that we started solid food tonight. It was a little tough because she refused to swallow it. So, we filled a bottle with water and as soon as we would put a spoon in her mouth and then let her suck the bottle, effectively swallowing the cereal. Some pictures of the process:

May 12, 2008

Mother’s Day! We’ve been a globe-trotting family lately. Monday-Thursday, I was in London doing a photoshoot all by my lonesome. Here’s a shot that I’ve gotten back from that:

And Paul, Kat and I have been in Kentucky visiting family for Mama Mandy’s 84th birthday. It was a huge celebration where all of her living children came and everyone had a great time. Can you imagine giving bith eleven times? I can’t. I can barely name all of my aunts and uncles, but this is the list:

Charlie (died at eight months, eight days)
Arthur (born eight and a half months after Mandy’s husband, Brack, came back from Germany and WWII)
Judy (died this last year)
Noreen
Helen
Charmie
Yvonne
Garland
Sharon
Stevie

My sister will probably have some good pictures which I will steal. When I get them, I’ll cross-post them. Thanks in advance, Sammy.

And by the way, I got my invitation to Steph’s batchelorette party today. Apparantly, Everything is Bigger in Texas. We’re coming on three weeks to the wedding! We’re looking foreward to it immensely.

Easter

So, I must apologize, I have no pictures of Easter. None at all. I had my camera with me (er, in the car) but… the stomach virus came down hard on the Buescher family.  We had to get Kat early from day care on Friday and ended up taking her to Children’s Hospital that night. Thankfully, they didn’t have to do anything to her because, as it always happens, she started feeling better the second she was admitted.

But the bad part came when I came down with it the next afternoon, Saturday. And when Paul started feeling bad on Sunday. We’re a real pathetic lot. But thank God for my mother, who drove three hours to come help us last night. I don’t know what we would have done without her.

So there, sorry about the lack of pictures.

Usurpment

So the longer I work at David’s, the more I’m thinking about opening my own custom wedding boutique. There are so many people that know exactly what they want but there are no dresses that match exactly what they want and the brides have to settle for something else.

This is what I want to do. You walk into an upscale boutique with good lighting and directly in front of you are three dresses on mannequins. They represent the three basic sihlouttes of dresses: Ball Gown, A-line, Sheath. And from there, the bride will absolutely customize her dress, from the hem length to the train to the neckline and sleeves. After that, embroidery styles are shown and she can add the decorations. I would have fabric choices like different laces, satin…brocade and chiffon.

The ideas filling my head make me reel. There are so many that it makes it hard to seperate and file them away. I just don’t know if Paul and I are in the proper place financially, mentally, for me to endeavor that way.

Home

So, some awesome things have happened this week:

  • Kat has not been a happy baby. We put her back on the non-lactose intolerant formula and she’s crying a lot more again. So…I don’t know what exactly to do. But she’s getting bigger and bigger every day!
  • I am personally in love with our financial planner, Mr. Parker Bailey. We sat down with him the other night and instead of writing me off as just a young mom/idiot, he really listened to what Paul and I wanted to do with the little money that we do have. I’ve never liked to discuss money because for some reason, it was bred into me at a young age not to talk about my particular means of money. But I felt comfortable with him and I think that we’re going to be able to sift through the legal jargon easily with him. In his words, “I’ve never, in all of my years in this line of work, seen a case as complicated and sticky as yours”. Then he laughed and said it should be fun.
  • We have found a new place to live. Although we love, love, love where we are now, it’s just so damned small! So, a townhouse it is. We went a little outside the city to Eastgate, but the farther you go from a metropolis the lower the price of living is.

Blizzard!

new-018.jpg

So, these past few days have been absolutely WONDERFUL!

I didn’t think I needed such a break, but when I had Thursday off and then Friday and today, Saturday were called off at work because of snow…man, I can’t tell you! I went to bed last night at seven. Seven! I then proceeded to wake up for Kat’s bottle at 2:30 (after I had already slept seven hours) and we snuggled and talked for about an hour after the bottle and then I went back to sleep, only to awaken at eight, when Paul and I started our day.

This day consisted of:

new-002.jpg

-Making the above super cool piece of art. I got the idea from my sister’s friend Kelly’s friend’s blog. It’s rather like that one, but with my own creative twist.
-Cleaning (which looks AWESOME!)
-Making Banana Bread
-Marveling over our three-month-old!

Love,
Belle

Picture Extravaganza

All right, guys and dolls: here are the promised picfures in a fancy slideshow foremat:

Remiss

All right, guys- I’ve been terribly remiss in posting pictures, which I know is the source of all entertainment. So, let me clue you in to what is going on in the fam:

PAUL is…
…working his bum off at Glen Este High School (being technical director to a bunch of dunder-heads)
…working his bum off at NKU (being babysitter to a bunch of dunder-heads)
…being a fantastic housband and getting better at cooking (not that it was bad to begin with!)

HANNAH BELLE is…
…working her bum off at David’s Bridal (story to follow!)
…doing five jobs for four shows at once (some of them actually, gasp, pay!)
…going to do a test shoot with nationally syndicated ‘TATTOO’ magazine this weekend (very exciting, money to be had!)
…getting a haircut today?

KATHERINE is…
…getting better at smiling (praise god!)
…growing up and out
…going to meet my manager for infant modeling soon
…pooing.

So the promised story is: I get a phone call while I’m working the desk at DB’s and it’s a woman on the phone:

Me: David’s Bridal, Florence KY, this is Hannah.
Her: So my friend got married this summer and I really liked her dress. Maybe you can see if you still have it?
Me: Yeah, of course. Can I have your friend’s name?
Her: She’s not registered at David’s. She went to _______.
Me: I can try to find a dress like it if you describe what you like about it to me.
Her: Sure. It’s strapless and white…and kind of poofy and the bottom. Do you have anything like that?
Me: …
